Trust

Foundational
Value

What is Trust:

Trust is about believing and relying upon the Integrity, the Honor, the Confidence a Person places in Another, in Justice, and one’s unshakeable Faith in God.

Trust is essential to our World; in shaping our Civilization, Society, Culture, and Families.

We Trust one another to think and act in a way that can change our world into something better, more sustainable, more peaceful.

It takes genuine Trust between people to Cooperate, to Collaborate, to Compromise; especially in order for Change to find fertile ground to grow.

Trust takes time to build and establish itself; yet it can be extinguished in a moment when broken.

Examples of Trust:

Trust is the basis for our Belief in one another and One God.  It is the foundation for our ability to Love and pursue Peace.

There are innumerable examples of Trust.

  • The Mother who intimately Trusts her Son and her Son who naturally Trusts his Mother.

  • The Doctor who counsels us to take a particular medicine or undergo an operation to restore our health.

  • The Peacemaker who works to end a War.

  • The Judge who we seek justice from.

Anti-Value: Doubt

Doubt is the opposite of Trust.

Doubt is when a person cannot bring themselves to Trust in or have Confidence in: another person, or a philosophical set of ideas, or a belief in a religion or creed.  It can be Doubt in an institution or promises made. Real Doubt is about Mistrust, Pessimism, and  Cynicism.

To Doubt is to have no confidence in another or the integrity of someone or something.  It leaves the Doubter suspicious, uncooperative, unable to collaborate.

Those who create Doubt and Skepticism in genuinely good people or ideas, are of a maligned heart, a diseased soul, an agitated mind.

Doubt is the seed to conflict.

Biblical References of Trust:

  • Matthew 14:29:  “He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.”

  • Psalm 9:10:  “And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.”

  • Psalm 31:14-15:  “But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors”

  • Proverbs 3:5-6:  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

  • Psalm 28:7:  “The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.”
