Kindness

Foundational
Value

What is Kindness:

Kindness is a genuinely Loving Value.

Kindness is when one extends a helping hand to a person down on their luck.  Kindness is the act of showing affection and concern for those who are in need, who are ill, who are in pain, or, who are alone and lost.  Kindness is a direct extension of our Heart into the world around us, especially when we reach out to address  neglect and cruelty to Animals.

Kindness can be: Merciful, Caring, Compassionate, Benevolent, Gentle, Lenient.  With an Act of Kindness, the example ripples across Humanity; being noticed by others, repeated by some, and always appreciated by the receiver.

A Kind person is steadfast, patient, and always forgiving; passionate about healing, protecting, and saving.  A Kind person is inclined to love nature, the animals, the plants, and the environment around us.

Examples of Kindness:

Kindness is a Loving and Gentle Value, reflecting a merciful heart and a soul that is full of God’s Grace.  Kindness can be a simple act of reaching out to make the world a better place, or it can be silently respecting the beauty that surrounds us in our world.

Examples of Kindness are:

  • A Young Boy helping a Deer through a rainstorm.

  • A Volunteer feeding the Hungry; clothing the naked, sheltering the homeless.

  • A Nurse giving a little extra attention to the terminally ill patient; showing them dignity in the latter hours of their Life.

  • An ASPCA Volunteer, rescuing an innocent Animal from Abuse, Neglect, or Danger.

Anti-Value: Cruelty

Cruelty is the opposite of Kindness.

Cruel people are typically hostile, empty of feeling, and hateful.  Cruelty can be done against people: husbands, wives, friends, children, prisoners, classmates.  Or cruelty can brought against innocent animals and natures beautiful life species.

Cruel people are inhumane and either enjoy seeing others suffer or are indifferent to others pain.  Cruel people are many times envious of what others have or earned; and their envy eats away  their heat; until they lash out destructively with cruel acts.

A Cruel Heart is a Dead Heart.

Cruelty is fueled by hate.  It is a sick mind that is cruel, brutal, and uncaring to other living creatures.  It is a dark soul that creates the conditions for cruelty to exist, and a darker soul that perpetuates that cruelty.

Biblical References of Kindness:

  • Zechariah 7:9-10:  “Thus says the Lord of hosts, Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.”

  • Matthew 8:1-4:  When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to them.”

  • James 2:13:  “For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment”

  • Proverbs 31:26:  “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue”
